Francis van Mook did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Akron RubberDucks from losing the game, 5-4, to the Altoona Curve in 10 innings at People's Natural Gas Field. van Mook was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Brent Rawlinson earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 2-2. The RubberDucks have now dropped 8 straight.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Altoona shortstop Dustin Sheppard, facing Oscar Mota, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Curve the 5-4 win.

"The tide will turn," said losing manager Juan Nunez. "We just need to keep our chins up."
