9 Straight Wins for Curve
|
Behind the hitting of Greg Ambriz, the Altoona Curve defeated the Akron RubberDucks, 12-7. Ambriz was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Curve. Antonio Cruz collected save number 5. With the win, Altoona raised its record to 23-8.
Frank McClellan had a big 2-run double for the Curve in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Altoona leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a cutter from Alexis Espinoza and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Curve ahead, 3-0.
"The tide will turn," said losing manager Juan Nunez. "We just need to keep our chins up."
