Though he had a terrific game, Daniel Burhoe could not prevent his team, the Akron RubberDucks, from absorbing a loss. Portland won the game, 6-5. Burhoe was 3-3 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Portland reliever Rick Harrington was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Omar Porraz took the loss. The win elevated the Sea Dogs to 17-16.

Had Jason Keating not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Keating hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Sea Dogs.

Portland manager Dennis Owens was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
