Sea Dogs Sneak Past Fightin Phils, 4-3
|
The Portland Sea Dogs had to overcome a fine effort from Reading pitcher Matt Knowlton to win, 4-3, at Hadlock Field. Knowlton went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Ismael Barreto earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. The slumping Fightin Phils have lost 6 straight.
Jimmy Zuniga was the walk-off hero for Portland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Sea Dogs left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"If I do my job, we've usually got a good chance to win the game," said Zuniga.
