The Akron RubberDucks defeated the Hartford Yard Goats, 5-3, at Canal Park. Akron was led by 22-year old center fielder DeMario Abarca, who went 2-2 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Kevin Rice picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 0. On the season, he is now 5-1. The RubberDucks have an impressive 21-12 record.
Daniel Burhoe hit a bases-clearing triple off Andy Losinski in the bottom of the third, which put the RubberDucks in front, 5-3. Burhoe had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
Burhoe told the Akron Chronicle: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
