New Hampshire Beats Richmond in Extra Innings
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Richmond Flying Squirrels home opener. Ben Bower started for the home team against Dave Barraza for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. The Flying Squirrels were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 5-2, New Hampshire, in 12 innings. Dave Barraza, though, was impressive. Tommy Sutton, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings.

Dave Gomez delivered a big hit for New Hampshire. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Fisher Cats ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

"I felt like I had pretty good command of mostly everything," said Barraza.
