Fightin Phils Top Sea Dogs, 5-1
|
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Fightin Phils beat the Sea Dogs.
Reading Fightin Phils starter Steve Thomas turned a whale of an effort into a win over the Portland Sea Dogs. The final score was 5-1, Reading. Thomas, who is tied for 8th in the EL in complete games with 1, went the distance for Reading. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits.
Jim White dealt the Sea Dogs a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Reading leading 1-0, White, who is tied for 9th in the EL in extra base hits with 13, hit a 2-1 fastball for a run-scoring single.
White attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
