Reading Beats Richmond, 5-1
|
David Aleman was locked and loaded, helping the Reading Fightin Phils beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 5-1. Aleman, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 5 walks. The win lifted the Reading record to 17-17.
Reading used the hitting of Jonathan Rodriguez to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Fightin Phils on top, 2-0. For the game, Rodriguez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Reading manager Daniel Rapp.
