Erie right fielder Alex Mata had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Mata was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice, even as Reading beat the SeaWolves, 9-8, in 10 innings. The loss puts Erie at 2-2.

The Fightin Phils got a clutch hit from shortstop Ricardo Torres. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Fightin Phils.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Torres told the Reading Times.
