Erie had no answer for Binghamton Mets hurler Sal Herrera, who overwhelmed SeaWolves hitters as the Mets coasted to victory, 8-0. Binghamton reliever Sal Herrera got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Phil Gibbs was tagged with the loss. The Mets bumped their record to 24-12 with this win.
Early in the game, third baseman Steve Thompson had a run-scoring double for Binghamton. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Mets on top, 1-0.
"Nice win for us," said Herrera. "Now we'll go after the next one."
