Gerstein Shines in 5-3 Hartford Win
|
The Hartford Yard Goats handed the Akron RubberDucks a loss at New Britain Stadium. The final score was 5-3. Josh Gerstein was one of the major contributors for Hartford. In addition to his 3 singles and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 3. Victor Gonzales, the winning pitcher, is now 4-3. He went 8.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 3. Bobby Filipkowski notched his 6th save of the season.
Gerstein contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Hartford in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Gerstein took a changeup from Chris Niewinski and stroked the home run to center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Yard Goats to leap in front, 2-1.
"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Gerstein.
With the win, Hartford goes to 18-19, while the RubberDucks fall to 17-20.
