Akron Beats Hartford, 8-4
|
Akron right fielder Mike Mordaunt was a significant contributor in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Hartford Yard Goats. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the RubberDucks. Miguel Gauna picked up the win with 7.2 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 9. On the season, he is now 1-1. Jayden Banks got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Roberto Avila had a big run-scoring triple for the RubberDucks in the bottom of the third inning. With Akron leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Lance Broski and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the RubberDucks ahead, 2-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Mordaunt told a Akron Gazette reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
Akron, with the win, is 10-25.
