Trenton Sent Home with 5-2 Loss
With shortstop Lee Carter leading the charge, the Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Trenton Thunder, 5-2, at The Diamond. Carter went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Richmond pitcher Jason Cranford earned the win, hiking his record to 5-2. Matt Barber suffered the loss. Mike Billingsley was credited with the save for Richmond, his 5th of the season.

Carter contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Richmond in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Carter took a fastball from Matt Barber and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Flying Squirrels to leap in front, 3-1.

Said Richmond manager Fernando Melendez: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."

The 5th-place Flying Squirrels go to 14-24.
