Rhoads Powers Thunder to 11-3 Win
|
Trenton beat Richmond in a rain-soaked ballgame.
The Trenton Thunder clobbered the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 11-3, at The Diamond. Leading the onslaught was Josh Rhoads. He was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5 for Trenton. Troy Mansell earned the win. Brian Young, who is tied for 10th in the EL with a 2.81 ERA, took the loss for Richmond.
With Trenton leading 6-2 in the top of the eighth, Rhoads came up to bat against Richmond pitcher Randy Stoddard. Rhoads hit a curveball to right for a grand slam home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Thunder on top, 10-2.
Trenton manager Pat Gilman commended his team for "putting the hammer down."
Trenton is now 14-25. Richmond is 14-25.
