Thunder Lose Again, 7-3, to Flying Squirrels
|
The Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Trenton Thunder, 7-3, at The Diamond. Leading the charge for Richmond was designated hitter Ryan Parker. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Justin Paglione got credit for the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in 8.1 innings. Richmond has run its win streak to 6 straight.
Eric Mathews had a big run-scoring double for the Flying Squirrels in the bottom of the third inning. With Richmond leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from Cesar Huizar, who is tied for 8th in the EL in wins with 4, and swatted a double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 2-0.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Melvin Slosar.
