The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
Getting offensive support from Josh Edwards, the Reading Fightin Phils topped the Hartford Yard Goats, 5-4. Edwards went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Fightin Phils. The winner in relief was Adrian Wiggins. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 1-5. Estevan Santiago earned save number 4 this season.
Reading took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Edwards hit a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season made the score 3-1, Reading.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Edwards, "one at-bat at a time."
Reading now sits at 12-27, while Hartford falls to 30-11.
