|
Richmond Flying Squirrels starter Bill Laird turned in a sterling performance against the Akron RubberDucks, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. The win boosts the Flying Squirrels to 20-22. The loss puts the RubberDucks at 11-29.
Juan Mateos had a direct impact on the outcome. Mateos contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Richmond up, 3-2.
"Bill pitched like a champ," said Richmond manager Fernando Melendez.
