The 3-hit performance of Danny Mendez helped the Akron RubberDucks beat the Harrisburg Senators, 3-2. Ivan Velez, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Senators to 2 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Jeremy Bess was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.

With Akron trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Mendez hit a fastball from Billy Lantry for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the RubberDucks ahead, 2-1.
