Win Lifts Flying Squirrels to 30-14
|
Chris Kemerer pitched well, but his team, the Hartford Yard Goats, still dropped a 4-2 decision to the Richmond Flying Squirrels at New Britain Stadium. Jules Hickman earned the save for Richmond, his 12th of the year. The Flying Squirrels move to 30-14 with the win, while the Yard Goats drop to 31-14.
The Flying Squirrels got a big at-bat from designated hitter Josh Layne. For the game, Layne went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Richmond a 2-0 lead.
Layne attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
