Erie and Trenton got after it at Jerry Uht Park.

Though he had a terrific game, Glenn Welch could not prevent his team, the Trenton Thunder, from absorbing a loss. Erie won the game, 7-2. Welch was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. Ricardo Batista was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was Jeff Elliot.

Francisco Jimenez aided the Erie cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder went 1-4.

"Solid game, solid win tonight," said a smiling Jimenez.

The win gives Erie a record of 4-1.
