Thunder Rally to Nose Past Binghamton
|
The Trenton Thunder found a way to sneak past the Binghamton Mets, 5-4, in 10 innings. Trenton pitcher Kirk Wharton, for one, had a standout performance. Steve Luker collected save number 1. The Thunder saw their win-loss record go to 21-26. At the same time, the Mets fell to 25-21.
Jimmy Dillard was 1 for 4 for Trenton. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the tenth inning, Dillard, who is tied for 8th in the EL in triples with 2, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Binghamton hurler Alberto Chavez, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Dillard.
