The umbrellas came out during the Hartford-Richmond contest at New Britain Stadium.

Hartford starter Victor Gonzales kept the Richmond offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Yard Goats to a 5-1 win. The winning pitcher was Gonzales, now 7-2. He tossed 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 9.

One key moment occurred in the top of the third with two down. With the bases loaded and the Flying Squirrels trailing 3-0, pitcher Ryan McClure grounded out. It was a big out for Gonzales and the Yard Goats.

The win puts the Yard Goats at 33-14, while the Flying Squirrels drop to 38-9.
