Flying Squirrels Dumped, 5-1, by Akron
|
Akron starter Brian Foody put the Richmond offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his cutter in leading the RubberDucks to a 5-1 win. The RubberDucks saw their record improve to 13-34.
Akron used the hitting of Eric Carroll to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the RubberDucks on top, 2-0. For the game, Carroll had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Said Richmond manager Fernando Melendez: "We weren't able to do much."
