The Richmond Flying Squirrels scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Trenton Thunder at The Diamond. Richmond pitcher Brent Fyffe held his own in the contest. The Flying Squirrels go to 35-20, putting them first in the Northern Division.

Nick Sams had a big 2-run home run for the Flying Squirrels in the bottom of the second inning. With Richmond leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Tony Solis, who is tied for 8th in the EL in strikeouts with 61, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Flying Squirrels on top, 4-0.

"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Sams.
