Richmond Stopped, 9-6, by Binghamton
|
The Binghamton Mets beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels by a score of 9-6. Binghamton shortstop Justin Conrad deserved the lion's share of the credit. Conrad was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Mets. Bobby Diaz snagged the win in relief. He goes to 5-1 on the season. Matt Sheffer suffered the loss. Reynaldo Perez, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Nick Breivogel was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for Binghamton. The 25-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Robert Valencia. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Breivogel told the Binghamton Daily News.
The 5th-place Mets are 24-31.
