Sky Sox Rebuff Dodgers, 2-1
|
Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox were eager to watch Bill Amparan square off against Bill Fincher of the visiting Oklahoma City Dodgers. In the end, the Sky Sox won the game, 2-1, with Bill Amparan leading the way. Amparan picked up the win for Colorado Springs, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Alex Espinal was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
John Gallegos drew 1 walk for Colorado Springs. The 27-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Matt Edinger. It was his 1st walk of the season.
Gallegos attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
