Rallying Chiefs Get 5-4 Win
|
In a tight contest at NBT Bank Stadium, the Syracuse Chiefs edged the Scranton WB RailRiders by the score of 5-4. Syracuse left fielder Brian O'Farrell, who blasted 1 home run, was a key contributor. The win went to Mike DeWolfe in relief, making him now 4-1. Ricky Roy took the loss for Scranton WB. Syracuse is now 22-16.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old right fielder Ricardo Mendoza had a chance to be the hero. Scranton WB pitcher Ricky Roy had other ideas. But with one out, Mendoza hit a sacrifice fly. The Chiefs had themselves a dramatic win.
O'Farrell said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
