Bats Secure 5-4 Win
|
Though he had a stellar game, Jon Carter could not prevent his team, the Columbus Clippers, from losing, 5-4, to the Louisville Bats. Carter was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Allen Tobar went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The left-hander struck out 6 and walked 3. With the win, he ups his record to 4-3 this season. The Bats win now puts them at 18-21.
Jim Hall was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for Louisville. The 24-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Greg Pence. It was his 10th walk of the season.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Columbus manager Dan Goldthwaite. "But we decided not to take it."
