The Syracuse Chiefs racked up a win at PNC Field, bumping off the Scranton WB RailRiders, 4-1, in 10 innings. Luis Hernandez, who started for Syracuse, pitched effectively for his team. The win was credited to former first round draft pick Mike DeWolfe in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Ryan Cryer took the loss. Ray Koval wrapped it up, recording his 6th save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Nick Stielow was at the plate when Syracuse scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Chiefs to go in front, 2-1.
In postgame comments, Hernandez said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
The 4th-place Chiefs bumped their record to 20-21.
