Clippers Topple Tides, 8-0
|
The Norfolk Tides and Columbus Clippers delighted fans at Huntington Park.
Norfolk had no answer for 29-year old left-handed pitcher Brian Foody. The Columbus Clippers starter stymied Tides hitters, helping the Clippers cruise to victory, 8-0. Columbus, now 23-21, holds down first place in the West Division.
In the bottom of the third, Chris Pineiro delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Columbus catcher hit a 2-run single, putting the Clippers in front, 8-0.
"Brian -- I just love the competitor in him," said Clippers manager Dan Goldthwaite.
