Lehigh Valley turned a good performance from starting pitcher Pete Lanning into a 3-1 triumph over the Charlotte Knights at BB&T Stadium. The winner was Lanning. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Corey Smith. Nate Williams was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

The IronPigs got a big at-bat from catcher Alberto Lopez. For the game, Lopez went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Lehigh Valley a 2-1 lead.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Lehigh Valley manager Bryce Bissinger said.
