6 Straight Wins for Clippers
|
The Columbus Clippers spoiled a good performance by Buffalo shortstop Adam Gass, bumping off Buffalo, 8-4, at Huntington Park. Gass went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to 33-year old left-handed pitcher David Avery in relief. His record improves to 6-2. Larry Coyle took the loss. The Bisons, at 23-25, have lost 4 straight games.
Cartersville, Georgia-born Mike Tamburello came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Clippers trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Columbus on top.
"Hitting is contagious. And when you have a lineup that's going to throw out competitive at-bats one through nine, it makes you want to join in," said Tamburello.
