Norfolk beat Syracuse on the strength of starting pitcher Pedro Salazar's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. The winner was Salazar. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Casey Manning. The win makes Norfolk 26-24.

Ron Lenz had a big 3-run home run for the Tides in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Norfolk leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a slider from Casey Manning, who is tied for 3rd in the IL with a 10.1 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Tides on top, 5-1.
