The Charlotte Knights picked up a win at NBT Bank Stadium, knocking off the Syracuse Chiefs, 3-1. On the mound for Charlotte was right-hander Ryan Kelly. He played a key role in the triumph. Bill Romero finished the game for Charlotte and earned his 11th save. The win makes Charlotte 29-22.
Charlotte used the timely hitting of Robby Spore to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Knights on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Ryan looked very determined to have a good game," said Charlotte manager Nick Zlomke. "He was totally focused and he produced."
