Tides Deal Chiefs 4-3 Loss
The Norfolk Tides found a way to sneak past the Syracuse Chiefs, 4-3, in 14 innings. Norfolk pitcher Pedro Salazar, for one, had a standout performance. Norfolk, now 29-22, holds down first place in the South Division.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 14th, 27-year old left fielder Troy Speakman had a chance to be the hero. Syracuse pitcher Ryan Ward wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Speakman grounded out, driving in 1 run. The Tides had themselves a thrilling win.

"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Salazar.
