The Durham Bulls did just enough to sneak past the Scranton WB RailRiders, 4-3, at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Durham pitcher Tony Severs, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner was Severs. He threw 5.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Devin Huth. Travis Holcomb sewed up the save, his 4th.
In the bottom of the fifth, Randy McCartan delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Durham center fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Bulls in front, 4-3.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Durham manager Arnáo Dique.
The last-place Bulls are 26-28.
