Josh Clements pitched well, but his team, the Norfolk Tides, still dropped a 3-1 decision to the Syracuse Chiefs at NBT Bank Stadium. Dave Barnes was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-1. The losing pitcher was Josh Clements. Angelo Castillo collected his 1st save.

Syracuse designated hitter Bubba McGinnis contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 58th hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 1-0.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," McGinnis said after the game.

The wins continue to add up for Syracuse. The latest makes it 8 in a row.
