McClure Homers Twice in 7-3 Flying Squirrels Win
|
The Richmond Flying Squirrels licked the Reading Fightin Phils, 7-3. Ryan McClure deserved a big chunk of the credit. The second baseman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Flying Squirrels. Earning his 11th save of the year was Nick Woods. Reading is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 19 games.
With Richmond leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, McClure hit a sinker from Jim Unknown for a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 5-1.
"We're not going to feel sorry for ourselves," said Reading skipper Daniel Rapp. "Wouldn't do any good."
