Kirkland Leads Gwinnett to 2-1 Win
|
Starting pitcher Pat Kirkland did his part in helping the Gwinnett Braves thwart the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 2-1. Gwinnett is now 30-26.
Though he didn't earn the victory, Kirkland kept his team in the game until the bullpen took over and the Gwinnett offense came through. Over 7 innings, he allowed 1 hit and 1 run, while striking out 7.
"The old adage is true," said Kirkland. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
