The Charlotte Knights and Gwinnett Braves provided some drama for the home crowd.

Charlotte pitcher Ryan Broughton gave the Braves all they could handle, but in the end, Gwinnett left BB&T Stadium with a win, 2-1. Broughton allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 8.2 innings. Ryan Leese earned the save, his 4th.

Rich Thomas had a direct impact on the outcome. Thomas contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Gwinnett up, 2-0.

"Good ballgame," said Charlotte manager Nick Zlomke. "But we came up on the short end."

The second-place Braves are 30-27.
