The first-place Gwinnett Braves picked up another win.
The Gwinnett Braves picked up a win at Coolray Field, defeating the Norfolk Tides, 6-2. Starting pitcher Josh Smith was an essential part of his team's success. The winner was Smith. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Donte Reed.
Erik Stewart, who is tied for 2nd in the IL in home runs with 11, helped out the Gwinnett cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.
"I still think this team can play even better," Stewart told the Gwinnett Daily News.
The first-place Braves are 37-23.
