Bats Do In Clippers, 4-2
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Columbus Clippers take on the Louisville Bats.
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Ivan Silva, the Louisville Bats beat the Columbus Clippers, 4-2. Silva went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times. Chris Peterson picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 3-6. Jonathan Godoy closed it out for his 4th save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Paul Epperly? The 27-year old left fielder Epperly stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Louisville up, 4-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
Epperly attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
The Bats raised their record to 31-29.
