IronPigs Use Late Surge to Win
|
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs weathered a fine game by Pawtucket right fielder Nick Olds to upend the Red Sox, 7-5, at McCoy Stadium. Olds went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Franklin Gallardo picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-4. Chris Baber was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the IronPigs record stands at 28-34.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Nate Armour came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Pawtucket pitcher Chris Baber, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Lehigh Valley on top, 6-5.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Armour told the Lehigh Valley Today. "It's as simple as that."
