The Rochester Red Wings had to overcome a fine effort from Buffalo pitcher John Ferch to win, 5-3, in 11 innings at Frontier Field. Ferch went 6 innings and allowed no runs. The second-place Red Wings have won 4 in a row.

The decisive blow was delivered by Matt Hughes in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Alfredo Gonzalez to win the game for Rochester. The home crowd went nuts.

"The vibe's good," said Rochester manager Luke Logan. "We've got to keep it going."
