Erik McFadden pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Syracuse Chiefs, despite McFadden's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Buffalo Bisons at Coca-Cola Field. The winner in relief was Jason Norris. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. The loss makes Syracuse 37-26.

The Bisons got a big at-bat from second baseman Steve Culley. For the game, Culley was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Buffalo a 2-1 lead.

"Tough loss," said Syracuse manager Mark Holgate. "But we'll rebound from it."
