Indians Win, 3-2, at Norfolk
|
Indianapolis and Norfolk duked it out and the Indians came out victorious.
Norfolk got a decent performance from pitcher Carlos Lucero, but it wasn't enough to beat the Indianapolis Indians. Indianapolis won the Harbor Park contest, 3-2. Lucero came in in relief and pitched to 26 batters for the losing team. John Schmitz picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-1. Carlos Lucero, who is tied for 6th in the IL with a 2.81 ERA, was tagged with the loss.
Indianapolis used the hitting of Stephen Perkins to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Indians on top, 3-1. For the game, Perkins had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Perkins.
With the win, Indianapolis goes to 31-32, while the Tides fall to 31-33.
