Barrios Delivers Walk-Off Win for Chiefs
|
The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.
The Syracuse Chiefs scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse pitcher Steve Johnson held his own in the contest. Syracuse pitcher Mike Carr got the win. He's now 3-1. Israel Salanova was tagged with the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Syracuse left fielder Jesus Barrios, facing Israel Salanova, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Chiefs the 4-3 win.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Johnson.
With the win, Syracuse raised its record to 44-21.
