With 5-1 Win, Red Sox Improve to 34-32
|
The Pawtucket Red Sox faced a tough opponent in Scranton WB pitcher Nate Merritt, but did just enough to pull out the victory at McCoy Stadium by a final score of 5-1. Merritt went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Kevin Chapman, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities. The victory gives Pawtucket a record of 34-32.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from designated hitter Henele Akiliano. For the game, Akiliano went 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Pawtucket a 2-1 lead.
