Durham center fielder Randy McCartan picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Toledo Mud Hens, 4-3. Jorge Reyes earned the win to go to 5-6. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout in 7 innings of work. Earning his 9th save of the year was Brian Sarchet.

McCartan contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Durham in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, McCartan took a slider from Gordie Schlenker and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Bulls to leap in front, 3-1.

Durham manager Arnáo Dique called it "a darn good win."
