Altoona beat Akron on the strength of starting pitcher Jose Acosta's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-1. The winner was Acosta. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Omar Porraz. Altoona is now 34-20, while Akron is 28-26.

With two out in the bottom of the fourth, Remco Oosterling put Altoona in front, 4-0, with a 2-run single. The Curve went on to win the ballgame.
