Fightin Phils Lose Again, 4-3, to Curve
Phil Crosswhite pitched well, but his team, the Reading Fightin Phils, still dropped a 4-3 decision to the Altoona Curve at FirstEnergy Stadium. Picking up the win was Gary Spector. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits. The right--hander struck out 2 and walked 1. Angel Moreno got credit for the save for Altoona. It was his 2nd of the year.

Altoona used the bat of Jeff Morgan to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Curve ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.

After the game, Altoona manager Edgar Romero applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

The slumping Fightin Phils have lost 8 straight.
