Baysox 4-3 Winners Versus Reading
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Bowie and Reading from playing their scheduled game.
The Bowie Baysox beat the Reading Fightin Phils, 4-3. Bowie pitcher and Higüey, Dominican Republic, native Carlos Lucero led the way. Lucero yielded 3 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 6-3. Ken Wilkerson sewed up the save, his 3rd.
Bowie third baseman Will Katzer helped the Baysox go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Katzer hit a run-scoring single off Reading pitcher Joseph Woodley.
"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Bowie manager Julio Garcia said afterward.
The 5th-place Baysox go to 22-32.
