Chiefs Score Late, Clip Red Wings, 4-3
|
The Syracuse Chiefs defeated the Rochester Red Wings, 4-3, in International League action at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse pitcher Billy Lantry had a standout performance. Syracuse pitcher Pete Pritchett earned the win, hiking his record to 1-2. Tim Brockman suffered the loss. The Chiefs go to 34-36, putting them third in the North Division.
Syracuse got a knockout punch from Bubba McGinnis. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"This game had its share of tense moments," McGinnis said, postgame.
