Win Goes to IronPigs in Tight Contest
|
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs topped the Syracuse Chiefs, 5-3, in International League action at Coca-Cola Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Lehigh Valley designated hitter Henry Quiroz. Lehigh Valley, at 34-37, holds down 4th place in the North Division.
Quiroz had a timely hit for Lehigh Valley in the bottom of the eighth. With Lehigh Valley trailing 3-2, he turned a first pitch sinker into a 3-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Lehigh Valley.
Quiroz told a Lehigh Valley Chronicle reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."
